a little workshop for your fretboard ideas
FretTool
Fretboard Diagram Editor
Sketch chords, scales and fingerings the way you think about them — click to drop a note, let barres form by themselves, scribble a label, then send it off as a PDF.
what it does
A friendly box of fretboard tricks
Everything you need to map out a song — without fighting your software.
Place notes by feel
Left-click to drop a dot. Hold a modifier and you get a square, a triangle, or a wee one for passing tones.
Barres that just happen
Put dots on neighbouring strings at the same fret and a barre appears. Split, merge and recolour it however you like.
Labels for humans
Tag any dot with a two-character note — finger numbers, intervals, anything that helps you remember.
X for the muted ones
Right-click an empty spot to mark a string as muted or open. No more guessing which strings stay quiet.
Print-ready PDFs
Export crisp diagrams with Ctrl+P. Hand them to your band, pin them to the fridge, teach a lesson.
Made to fit you
2–12 strings, 1–24 frets, dark or light, ten languages, and every hotkey rebindable. It bends to your habit.
